An experienced cardiac surgeon, Dr. Arun Mehra holds a bachelor of medicine and a bachelor of surgery (MBBS) from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College in Gujarat, India. Before receiving his MBBS, he earned four merit awards, including a Gold Medal for Surgery from Gujarat University and a Best Outgoing Student Gold Medal. Dr. Arun Mehra went on to complete a postgraduate master of surgery program at Topiwala National Medical College, an institution with strong affiliations with Nair Hospital and Bombay University.

For the past 18 years, Dr. Arun Mehra has served as a consultant cardiac surgeon with Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, India. Mumbai’s Jaslok Hospital and Breach Candy Hospital. His areas of expertise include bloodless, beating-heart surgery; left ventricular aneurysm procedures; post-infarction ventricular septal rupture procedures; redo bypass and valve procedures; total arterial revascularization; and a range of open heart operations.

Dr Arun Mehra's work on surgery for coronary artery giant aneurysm has been published in the international journal of cardiac surgery.
